Detextive is a fast windows application which examines the contents of a textfile and then produces another file (in *.txt or html format) with detailed information on the characters, words etc. of the examined file.
This is good for complementary proofreading - go through the produced wordlist without being distracted by the message. Also, the textmass one has to read in order to spot errors in this way is - with for example a diverse text of about 125 A4 pages - reduced with a factor of eight because all correct instances of a particular word are collected into one word list entry (with the number of occurences displayed next to it); and likely, you will then have possible mispelled versions appearing nearby. As texts become even
larger, that factor will rise to your benefit, as vocabulary growth normally levels out.
