TNCTERM is a packet terminal program that enables text to be sent and received over a packet radio link. It uses the serial port which is set up on initialising the application. The settings cannot be saved.
This application is to be used with ham radio packet hardware and will allow messages to be exchanged in chat mode. By using the built-in application, Textcode, binary files may be exchanged. These may be used with packet bulletin boards to send images or software.
It can use com ports 1 to 4 and all the common port configurations.
TNCTERM incorporates TEXTCODE so binary files may be sent as text. In the file send mode the burst rate is slowed by a timer so that it can keep pace with the slow link of the radio. This is set-up on initialising.
A file may be received from a bbs or pms by using the receive fileoption and the file length may be entered. The system may be set to disconnect at the end of the file which it detects.
In the chat mode a line of text is entered and the application countsthe number of characters and issues a carriage return line feedat the next space character after a set number of characters a new line is forced.
This formatting may be applied to an outgoing or incoming file if desired. |
